25-29 September 2017
Berlin Institute for Medical Systems Biology, Max Delbrück Center
Berlin, Germany
Application deadline
02 July 2017
The course will cover fundamental topics in computational genomics and RNA biology. There will be theoretical lectures followed by practical sessions where students directly apply what they have learned. The data analysis part will be mainly done on Galaxy platform, therefore there is no strict requirement for prior knowledge of programming. Although, prior knowledge of basic statistics and modeling will be useful for some modules. The course will be beneficial for first year computational biology PhD students, and experimental biologists and medical scientists who want to begin data analysis or are seeking a better understanding of computational genomics and RNA Biology. Here is a link to an article about a similar course we organized in 2015.
The lectures and practicals will be held Mondays to Fridays from 9am to 6pm. Lectures are followed by hands-on exercises to apply what candidates have just learnt. There will also be additional scientific lectures showcasing application of computational genomics in current research projects. A computer room with preset workstations will be provided. There will be one afternoon (mid-week) reserved for a social group activity
The following instructors will also take part in the teaching activties.
