The course will cover fundamental topics in computational genomics. There will be theoretical lectures followed by practical sessions where students directly apply what they have learned. The programming will be mainly done in R. The course will be beneficial for first year computational biology PhD students and experimental biologists who want to begin data analysis or are seeking a better understanding of computational genomics.
The lectures and practicals will take the up full day (Including 18th and 24th of October ). Candidates should plan for 9am to 6pm days. A typical day would comprise of lectures followed by hands-on exercises. There will also be additional scientific lectures showcasing application of computational genomics in current research projects. A computer room with preset workstations will be provided. Students can also use their own laptops if they pre-install course related software and data. There will be one afternoon(mid-week) reserved for a social activity.

Candidates must apply with a CV and a short motivation letter (no longer than one A4 page). The motivation letter should indicate the candidate's current research and the prospective application of the taught material in his or her research .
Past programming and statistics experience should also be clearly indicated in the motivation letter. Although statistics and programming is not a pre-requisite such knowledge is necessary for us to provide an optimal teaching experience. Candidates who fail to indicate such details may have a hard time getting on to the course.

The course fee is 250 Euros. Payment details will be e-mailed to the candidates accepted to the course. The fee also covers printed materials, lunch and snacks during the course.
The course fee does NOT cover accomodation. However, the document linked below lists suggested accomodation options. The list includes some of the budget hotels/hostels as well.
